Supacustom Bicycle #1 – Part 3

supacustombicycle-104Here it is, the final instalment of the bicycle project! Its been quite a few months coming but I am glad to say that its finished. At the start of this project I set out to take some lessons learnt from the first frame I built and to make sure I took this build to the next level. It started with the construction of a new jig, this took as much if not more effort than the frame itself. I invested in a new brazing torch and started to experiment with the latest greatest brazing materials from Cycle Design. I chose to go with some high end tubing from True Temper and stainless dropouts from Paragon Machine Works. The best materials, a solid new jig and some practice with the brazing torch all seemed to pay off… the frame came together nicely. The final step of the frame build was the paint, I considered outsourcing this but seeing as I had done everything else myself it seemed only right to take on the painting as well. The finished result was very satisfying, by far my best painting effort to date.

supacustombicycle-100With the frame finished there was nothing left to do but to build it up. The bike is for my girlfriend Renee and she had lots of input into the selection of components, after much discussion we settled on a “black” theme with some red highlights to compliment the white frame.supacustombicycle-099

The only problem now is that its way cooler than my old bike and I am a little jealous!

Awesome build, Ross! I'm jealous too! I hope you've invested in a chunky lock too!!!

Thanks Clay, yes locking it up is an issue - I doubt we will let it out of our sight!
