The Moto Paton 500 is a pretty special bike. Origianlly built in very limited numbers (10 bikes in total) during the 60′s and 70′s by Giuseppe Pattoni. The Moto Paton features a 500cc Parallel twin motor and in my opinion is one of the most beautiful 500cc racers of that era. I am not sure if any of the original bikes survived but a few years ago Roberto Passini, Guiseppe’s son decided to recreate some exact replica’s of the original bikes. The bikes are all handbuilt to the highest standards and in many ways are not really repica’s as they are built to the exact standards of the original bikes.
I was lucky enough to see one of these in the flesh at the recent 2012 Island Classic (pictured below), it looked incredible and sounded even more amazing. I have no idea how much one of these bikes cost but I can’t imagine that it would be cheap. Its great to see it getting raced hard and not just collecting dust in someone’s private collection never to be seen by the public. This bike was being enjoyed the way it was intended – at full throttle!
